Boy did I love doing this project! This moodboard is about old and found objects.

The newspaper clipping are from my Great Aunt Elise. She had clipped and put them into one of her books. The clippings are from the early 1900′s and they’re called “Parlor Games”. It’s so fun to read about these games and to think they had just themselves and books for entertainment as these clippings where pre radio! In the lower left corner you see an illustration of a bird and some handwriting. My Great Aunt Elise was a teacher and taught school during the depression. They couldn’t afford a ton of books so she would make and illustrate her own! The jewelry is from an estate sale. I bought the necklace and earrings for $2. Gotta love that! The flowers are from my garden. And lastly, the book in the upper right corner is over a 100 years old. It’s “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” by Harriet Beecher Stowe. There are so many things I find fascinating about this book. One, it’s written by a woman well before we had rights. Two, the actual material is so profound on so many levels. Three, for such a “heavy/intense” book I find it interesting the publisher decided to pick flowers to put on the cover. Do the roses with thorns convey the content inside or where they added to make the book look pretty? Hmm, what do you think?

I absolutely adore these illustrations created by Eva Juliet. The colors and sayings speak volumes to me. I’m having such a hard time trying to decide which one to purchase. I love the “Welcome to My Place” illustration and have the perfect little spot for it. But then there’s the “Choose Joy” illustration which reminds me of the Holiday’s and how I really do need to “Choose Joy” because I find that time of year so completely overwhelming. And the last one, “Take a Sip of Creativity“, which draws on my desire to be creative each and every day. Oh, and these aren’t even the ones that took me to her Etsy shop. This is the one that originally caught my eye. And what about this one? Hmm, the decisions, which one would you choose?

As many of you know, I’m taking the e-course, Blogging Your Way and today’s assignment was to create a Color Story. I really enjoyed this project. It all started with the peacock feathers which my son, daughter and I collect when we go to Leo Carrillo park in Carlsbad, CA where the peacocks roam free. This place has so many fond memories for me. I then built on this with the vintage books, thread etc. from my Great Aunt Elsie who was such an amazing woman. The bookcase was something I found at a thrift store which I took home and stripped and left raw (Kay Lani, my neighbor was such a lifesaver. She gave me some tips/tricks and tools, thank you ). I could only select one photo to submit to the Flickr group. I selected the first photo. What do you guys think? Which is your favorite photo?

So I’m taking the e-course, Blogging Your Way by Leslie & Holly. It’s such an amazing course. I’m learning so much and having tons of fun meeting new people who have completely inspired me. In one of our sessions we talk about flower arrangements and photo styling. I didn’t have a chance to go out and buy some flowers so I picked some papyrus from our yard and placed them in the Burlap Wrapped Vases I had blogged about a couple of weeks ago. The above picture is after learning so many tips and tricks from the class. Below is pre-class. What a transformation! What do you guys think?

I’m loving the interior design style of Irina Guzman who resides in Norway. The way raw wood paneling is paired with mirrored damask wall paper and a crystal candler. Her blog is chalk full of beautifully designed houses and rooms that she’s styled. Additionally, she shows a step by step process of how she transforms a dark and dank cabin into a bright white and sophisticated home. I also love how she spray paints everything from deer antlers to lamp bases to entire pieces of furniture bright metallic silver and other florescent colors. Now that’s my kind of gal!
