{heading up the coast on a family get away}

So we are off! Tonight we head up the coast to Marina Del Ray. My husband’s construction company is doing a huge concrete pour tonight. There will be over 200 concrete trucks. It will be quite a sight to see and my son Jacob is so stoke he’s beside himself with giddiness! The next day we will check out the Santa Monica Pier and visit friends and family.

I will be taking off a bit early this week. My mom and niece are coming to town and we will be playing in the sun, cooking up a storm and entertaining friends. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I will see you all back here on Tuesday.

This sounds like such a funny thing to say but I think getting chickens right now is all the rage. It’s like getting one of those mini poodle mixes that was so popular a couple years ago. I say this because I was on a Southwest Airline flight and they had an article in their magazine about all the benefits and how fun these little buggers are to raise and have as PETS. Yes pets. Well I’m going to opt out of getting them for myself and live vicariously though my friend Chrissy. But seriously, are we going to see handbags and leashes for chickens?! Am I going to see people taking their chicks shopping?!

Anywho, we had so much fun visiting the chicks. In these pictures they are just a couple of days old. Most of the pictures are of my daughter, Katelyn. The boy is my son Jacob. Yep, I barely got this photo. Between the fidgety chick and my screwwormy son it was next to impossible! I’m the gal in the last picture with Katelyn.

Oh and all the fun graphic elements like the background, title graphic background and photo frames came from the super talented and very knowledgeable Katrina of Puglypixel. She is so creative and her blog is packed to the rafters with graphics elements, tips and tricks.

{ Good Morning Sun! }

I woke up this morning to the sun peaking in through a slat in our blinds. It was a welcoming way to wake up as we’ve had our far share of clouds recently. Any-who, it inspired me to create a post based on the color yellow which I have to say is one of my new favorite colors! Oh and also happens to be one the accent colors of my almost complete family room “refresh”. I say “refresh” because I’m in the process of swapping out old throw pillows for new ones as well as adding some window treatments and other fun finds to freshen up the room! I can’t wait to show you the big reveal! I just have to get may act together and bust out the sewing machine this weekend. Well I hope you all have yourselves a fabulous weekend.

I don’t know about you all but the weather here in San Diego is gloomy and I’m over it! I’m craving the sun and warm weather. I thought a little color inspiration would brighten the day. I love this photograph by Millie Holloman. The pinks, light grays and violets are so yummy.

I ❤ peeps. They are without a doubt my favorite Easter candy. When they start to stock the shelves at the stores with those little guys my heat skips a beat! Thank goodness I’m usually with one of my kiddos so I’m able to constraint myself and not load up my cart with the little guys. Leigh Anne of Your Homebased Mom has created this great little DIY goodie. Isn’t it totally cute and yummy?

What a fabulous vacation. We had such a wonderful time. The beaches (Honeymoon & Caladesi in Florida) were beautiful with powder white sand riddled with shells. The water was clam so the kids could play without the worry of big waves coming their way and it was beautiful shades of blues and greens. My sister and her family met us down there too. I felt so lucky and bless to be able to spend time with them. The kiddo’s were in heaven! I can’t wait till our next trip. How was your weekend? Are you gearing up for Easter?! I did manage to get in a craft project or two while we where away and I will share the fun little project in my next post.
