So we are heading up to Big Bear for a weekend of skiing in a couple of weeks. Wouldn’t this be a perfect meal contribution? It’s such a fun twist on lasagna. Recipe can be found here.

I have died and gone to heaven!

Hitched, a vintage + rustic + chic event showcasing a fresh spin on wedding planning. The event was put together by Bash, Please and Urbanic Paper. The talented duo from 100 Layer Cake was there and have super creative DIY projects on their blog from the event. Confetti System bedazzled the crowd with their confetti gone art. The “goodie sack” looked amazing with everything from vintage stamps to a letterpress 2011 calendar.

The next Hitched event is January 30th, 2011 at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs and I really want to go! The ideas from the past event looked amazing. I can’t image how they are going to “top it” but I would love to find out! What a perfect excuse for a girls weekend away… so who’s in?!

{it just takes two lemons…}

After reading the book Amelia Bedelia my son Jacob was completely inspired to make Lemon Meringue Pie (I’m not sure if you’ve read the adorable children’s book but if not here’s briefing of it, Amelia is hired to be a house keeper at which she does a disastrous job. While cleaning she decides to make the husband and wife a Lemon Meringue Pie. When the couple comes home they are gravely disappointed to find their house in disarray but once they have a bite of the amazingly delicious pie they decide to keep her on. Jacob was so inspired he decided he must make this amazing pie! You just got to love kids!).

At first I was a bit nervous to make the pie because I’ve never really made a pie before. I found this recipe on All Recipes.com. I love how easy it was to make and the ingredients where so basic. You just need two lemons, a frozen pie crust and some basic ingredients and Volia you have a Lemon ~~Meringue~~ Pie (I did leave out the meringue but only because I’m not a huge fan of the stuff)!

Oh and if I must say so, it was delicious! Super creamy and not too tart. Both of my kiddo’s devoured it. The recipe is below with the meringue omitted. Just right click on the recipe and download to your desktop. Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!

{ japanese washi tape + entertaining, part III }

Good morning all! I hope everyone had a great Saint Patty’s Day. Now we can officially roll up our sleeves and get ready for Easter! I just love Easter, the beautiful pastels, spring tulips and all the yummy goodies that go along with it (as you will see below in the pics I have a thing for Peeps:) ). How about you, what’s your favorite part of Easter?

Today’s post is about applying Washi tape to cake stands and serving plates. I absolutely love how it dresses up a simple white serving plate and the cake stands are precious. My theme was Easter but these tapes are perfect for dressing up any serving ware you have for what ever occasion may be around the corner.

Application:

The white serving plates & candy bowl where so super easy and very straight forward to decorate. The thin strips where created by adhering the washi tape to vellum paper and cutting the width in half. If you look closely to the candy bowl you will see that the bottom edge is scalloped. I just used a scalloped edge craft scissors to get that effect.

The cake stands where a little more work. Again, I adhered the washi tape to vellum and then with a craft punch I created the bunny edging effect (the craft punch is made by Martha Stewart and I got it at Michael’s). It was a bit more difficult to take the washi tape off the vellum because of all the detail in the craft punch but you only need a couple of strips so totally worth the end result!
